Where are you located?
The Kessler School is located within the Kessler Park United Methodist Church building at the corner of Colorado Boulevard and Turner Avenue in North Oak Cliff. Just minutes from Downtown Dallas, our address is 1215 Turner on the Northwest corner at Colorado Blvd. (2 blocks West of Sylvan)
What are your hours?
The school day is from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
How do I get an application?

Do you have Before & After school care?
Yes we do.
What is the student/ teacher ratio?
We have a ratio of 12:1 for PreK Level I and II. The ratio is 16:1 for Kindergarten and above.
Do you have a uniform?
Students in preschool through grade six are required to wear uniforms. Click here to review uniform requirements.
Is parental involvement required?
Yes. TKS requires parents to sign a Family Volunteer Contract each year. We require 40 hours per family per academic year. Hours can be fulfilled by attending PTO meetings, helping on PTO projects and fundraisers, volunteering in your child's class , etc. If necessary, we can provide you with things to do at home! There's an alternate way too, for those with more money than time – you can donate or "buy back" remaining hours at $25 per hour. Joining our PTO is an excellent way to put your energy and talents to good use.
What kinds of students go to The Kessler School?

How long has The Kessler School been in existence?
The Kessler School began in 1999, however, the Day School of Kessler Park United Methodist Church began in 1964 and provided pre-school through kindergarten learning opportunities. The Day School, which held an excellent reputation in the community, officially merged with The Kessler School in Spring 2001.
Is Chapel attendance mandatory?
Those who prefer that their child not participate in our monthly chapel services during school hours must notify The Kessler School.
Chapel time is for students K-6th grades and is led by the pastor of KPUMC. Sensitivity to the diverse religious traditions, beliefs and practices of all students and their families is a core value of The Kessler School.
What kind of tuition payment options do you have?
All families must enroll in the FACTS tuition management system during the enrollment process. The following plans will all be processed through FACTS (via your choice of accounts i.e. checking, credit or savings).
Are you an accredited school?
We are proud to announce our SACS/CASI Accreditation (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools). Please visit the SACS website for more information.
Does your program meet the state of Texas licensing requirements?
Yes, we are license exempt but we are voluntarily in compliance with the state's licensing requirements.
Can I come and visit the school?
Definitely! We encourage prospective parents and students to visit The Kessler School during one of our scheduled open houses to be announced on our website or by appointment. Please call 214-942-2220 to schedule a tour.
Is there a foreign language offered?
Yes, our curriculum currently includes regular, daily Spanish instruction for all ages of students.
Will students have access to computers?
Yes! Kinder through 4th grade students use our computer lab. Grade 5th & 6th have personal laptops that they utilize throughout their day in their classroom.
Do you offer a sibling discount?
Yes. The eldest child is at full cost. Additional children receive 5% off tuition. Discounts apply to tuition only and NOT Enrollment or Supply Fees.
Do you provide lunch / snacks?
We do not have a kitchen on school grounds, however a lunch program is offered at an additional fee. Families are given the opportunity to opt in to a hot lunch option from neighboring restaurants. These meals are delivered to the school and then delivered to the student. Children who attend TKS all day (and are not buying a lunch) are required to bring their own lunch and children in Grades 3-6 have access to microwaves. For our Preschool students, snacks are brought by families/students on a rotating basis. You should let your child's teacher know if there are any food allergies or restrictions. Nut free foods are encouraged, however, a special table for students who do bring nut products in their lunch will be available.
Where do students go when they graduate from The Kessler School?
Our graduating students have furthered their education by attending other private and public schools all over the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. School’s such as St. John's, Lakehill, St. Elizabeth, St. Marks, Episcopal School of Dallas, Fairhill, Travis DISD, Canterbury, Parish Episcopal, Bishop Dunne Catholic School, Dallas Lutheran and many other wonderful schools.
What standardized tests do you administer?
Kindergarten through 6th grades will take the ITBS (at the beginning of the year) & Terra Nova (at the end of the year). Additionally, returning preschool students will be given the Gesell test and Kindergartens will take the CogAT.
Do you offer financial aid?
Yes, financial aid offerings are made to students entering *Kingergarten through 6th Grade. FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment will be conducting the financial need analysis for The Kessler School for each academic year. Applications are available the beginning of November in the school office.
Award amounts and percentages can vary from year to year.
Do you offer after school activities and summer programs?
Yes. We offer after school enrichment programs which vary year to year - such as tumbling, chess, cooking, violin lessons, homework help, etc. All are offered for an additional fee and limited to a first come first serve basis.
Kessler School students also participate in many neighborhood group sports teams. Such as soccer, volleyball, t-ball etc. Our Parents and our PE Coach will assist in the management of these teams.
In the summer months we offer "Camp Kessler", our full time summer camp program.
