Middle School

The Kessler Middle School, which includes 5th-8th grade, continues to offer a student-centered, project-based experience that is academically rigorous. Small class sizes enable authentic personalized instruction and intervention. TKMS follows the Teacher’s College Workshop Model for Humanities and uses STEAM thought processes for cross-curricular connections. Daily electives and advisory incorporate a well-rounded school day to meet the needs of all learners. Leadership requirements are built into the schedule, with additional club options available to all.

Off-campus experiences and community projects are an integral part of the middle school experience at The Kessler School, allowing students to make authentic, real-world connections to curriculum while learning to value local, community resources. STEAM instructions are led by the team at Techie Factory; Visual Arts are led by local artists from Oil and Cotton, and Performing Arts partnerships include the Dallas Conservatory. Students also participate in weekly, on-campus Public Speaking, Innovations and Entrepreneurship, and Genius Hour electives.

Innovative and Specialized Learning

TKS offers a variety of innovative programs and electives taught by contracted experts who bring real-world experience to the classroom. We contract with external experts, including counselors, and fine arts and music specialists from organizations such as Oil and Cotton, BOCO Music & Dance, and Techie Factory, to provide a wider range of experience and wisdom to our students. Our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) programs provide students with hands-on learning opportunities, ensuring they are well-prepared for the future. Additionally, we offer access to specialized counselors who support students' emotional and social development.

Social and emotional development is equally, if not more, important to student learning at The Kessler School. We integrate Social Emotional Learning (SEL) into our curriculum to help students develop essential life skills such as empathy, resilience, and teamwork. Teachers take a positive and responsive approach to creating a safe, joyful, and inclusive school environment.

Our faculty and staff are dedicated to providing personalized attention and support for each student. With small class sizes and a low student-to-teacher ratio, we ensure that every child receives the individualized education they need to thrive. Our commitment to ongoing professional development ensures that our educators remain at the forefront of educational best practices, enhancing the quality of instruction.

We believe that education is a partnership between the school and families. Knowing and valuing the contributions of our families is as important as knowing the children we teach. This collaborative approach creates a close-knit, supportive environment where students can flourish.

Join us at The Kessler School, where our comprehensive curriculum and dedicated educators provide an UNLIMITED educational experience, preparing students for a bright and successful future.
