Owl News - Week #24

February 18th, 2026

TKS Calendar | TKS Parent Page | Curriculum Overview

Thank you to those who decorated and rode on the TKS Mardi Gras Float last weekend during Oak Cliff's Mardi Gras Parade! Shout out to Toby Tucker for donating his truck and trailer, and to Deidra Moy and Jarrell Jones for coordinating logistics!

Please join us tomorrow from 5:30-6:15 for Parent Preview Night to hear highlights from your child's rising grade-level teacher!

As part of our Black History Month celebration, we are proud to host a special Speaker Series highlighting Black Excellence, leadership, and impact across our community. Each Wednesday during Morning Meeting, students will hear from inspiring guest speakers who will share their experiences, achievements, and stories of success.

Through these conversations, we aim to celebrate the contributions of Black leaders past and present while encouraging our students to dream boldly, lead with purpose, and recognize the many ways they can make a difference in the world.

Thank you to Mrs. Marshall (1st-grade teacher) for organizing this meaningful experience for TKS!

We are excited to kick off this year’s K–8 Spell-A-Thon!

The Spell-A-Thon is a virtual fundraiser, which will run from February 23rd to March 6th. Family and friends can pledge support based on the number of words a student spells correctly from a teacher-provided list. Supporters may choose to pledge an amount per correctly spelled word or make a flat donation.

The Live 99 Pledges link will be emailed to families on Monday, February 23. This platform is used to collect and track pledges.

Incentives & Prizes

Top Individual Fundraiser: Trophy

Top Class (highest average raised per student): Pizza party

Students who raise $200 or more: Free dress day

Spelling lists will come home with your students next week!

If you have any questions, please reach out to Jocelyn Baron for additional details.

We look forward to a fun and successful Spell-A-Thon!

It's almost Auction Season!

Join us for our annual TKS Auction Shopping Event on Thursday, February 26, proudly hosted by DLM Supply in support of The Kessler School.

Shop fresh spring styles, connect with friends, and enjoy a fun evening out—all while supporting our school community. It’s the perfect way to give back while treating yourself. We can’t wait to see you there!

2026 TKS Auction Link is LIVE!

Spring Showcases!

This April, all students — PK through TKMS — will take the stage for our annual Spring Showcases!

As a fun nod to this year’s Auction theme, “Broadway,” our showcases will provide students with an opportunity to showcase their learning and growth across disciplines, highlighting the creativity, collaboration, and academic skills they have developed throughout the year.

In an exciting new format, we will combine grade-level showcase times, allowing families to enjoy multiple performances in one program — not just their child’s grade level. Performances will begin promptly at 8:15 a.m., followed by an opportunity to view student work artifacts that reflect the learning and preparation behind the scenes.

We look forward to celebrating our students’ confidence, creativity, and growth with you!
