Next week (4/16-4/20) is our next Book Fair! Remember you can also shop online. For some added fun, we're having different themes each day for everyone to enjoy the spirit of
PAWS For BOOKS!
4/16 Monday - wear animal print socks (w/ uniform)
4/17 Tuesday - wear animal print shirts (w/ uniform bottoms) + Family Night until 6PM
4/18 Wednesday - Cat vs. Dog Voting Day during Morning Meeting
4/19 Thursday- Animal themed pajama day
4/20 Friday - Three different events:
1. Reveal winner of Cat vs Dog
2. Reveal estimation jar winners
3. Bring favorite stuffed animal to school
(Morning coffee will be provided on both Monday and Thursday mornings at 7:30AM.)

Week of the Young Child
Week of the Young Child is an annual observance hosted by NAEYC celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers and families. To celebrate the week, if you would like to share your favorite book in your child's classroom simply contact your child's teacher.
Free Zoo Day Tomorrow
Scott Griggs and three of his fellow councilmembers have partnered to invite residents of their districts to enjoy free entry at the Dallas Zoo on Saturday, April 14th. Parking is $10 per vehicle. For more details click here!
Dads & Daughters
Please see info and RSVP to the 2018 OC Nation Daddy-Daughter Dance on Sunday, April 15th, 5-7PM at the Kessler Theater. The price is $30 for Dad & Daughter, $10 for each additional child. You may pay by cash or check at the door.
Student Portraits still Available
There are adorable leftover student portraits from the Derby that will be for sale during the book fair next week. The portraits are $50 each and can be purchased on Handbid at www.handbid.com/auctions/kessler-derby-2018.
TKS Cares 4th Grade Project
The 4th graders will be remodeling a relaxation/nursing room for the Dallas Police Station on April 29th. The station will provide all the materials needed to paint, but Officer Jon Lumbley and his colleagues have provided a "wish list" of items for the new room. Our goal is not only paint the room, but to create a welcoming and warm space for the Dallas residents who need to use it when they visit the station and also for officers who need a place to recharge. If you would like to donate any of the items below, please contact Jesse Bartlett.

Author, Kate DiCamillo in Dallas
What: Half Price Books is hosting Newbery Medal winner and young readers author Kate DiCamillo for a discussion of her books including Flora & Ulysses, The Tale of Despereaux, Because of Winn-Dixie and her latest release in paperback (April 10), Raymie Nightingale. Kate is a highly respected author whose texts are integrated as exemplars for multiple grades here at TKS for both Readers and Writer's Workshops.
When: Sunday, May 20, at 2PM

Cinco de Mayo Festivities
Sr. Mendez still needs items for our annual Cinco de Mayo celebration! He is requesting donations of medium sized piñatas, non-meltable candies and small toys and/or party favors por favor. Thank you to those who have already donated items!
All classes will be smashing piñatas on Friday (May 4th) and Monday (May 7th). The Mexican lunch celebration for K-5th grade students and teachers will be on Taco Tuesday, May 8th (El Fenix will be served for PreK ONLY that day). PreK will enjoy Mexican pan dulce for morning snack during Spanish time.
