Annual Fund Drive
Our 2018 - 2019 TKS Annual Fund Drive kicked off this week with letters being sent home in student folders. We are grateful to have TKS parent, Amy Casto, as this year's Annual Fund Chair. Amy will help lead our goal of raising $150,000 and 100% TKS participation.  A number of families have already scheduled contributions through FACTS which is greatly appreciated. In addition, 100% of our Faculty, Staff and Board of Trustees have committed their support. Make your Gift Online and select option - Scheduled Contribution (FACTS) or Donate Now!

Fall Open House Schedule
If you know any prospective new families, please inform them that we have two scheduled Open Houses  - Wednesdays, October 17th at 9AM. They will have the opportunity to tour our classrooms, meet our teachers and see our students in action. Prospective families can RSVP by filling out the Open House Form. We are accepting new student applications (non TKS families), more information can be found on the TKS homepage.

Pumpkin Book Festival!
The Annual Pumpkin Book Festival family project is coming up. Pick your favorite family book and decorate a small, pie pumpkin to look like one of the characters or the cover of the book. Any craft items can be used to add to the pumpkin, but please do NOT puncture the pumpkin because it will rot quickly. This is an OPTIONAL project for families to do together at home. Decorated pumpkins (along with the book) will be due Monday, October 22nd, for display in the library. Please drop your pumpkin and book off in the library when arriving at school. Be sure your child's name is displayed near the pumpkin. All classes will have the opportunity to take a pumpkin walk to see the creative work! Pumpkins and books will go home on Friday, 10/26.

Book Character Parade
On Wednesday, October 31st, we will celebrate our 4th Annual Book Character Parade in the morning at 8:10AM. Students will be allowed to dress up like their favorite book character and bring the book with them to school. Starting with 5th graders and ending with PreK, students will walk in procession out the door and up the sidewalk to the church lawn for pictures. Parents may stand along the sidewalk to see all the creative book characters. After the parade, students may wear their costumes with athletic shoes for the day (if they want to change, then it must be into uniform clothing).

Red Ribbon Week
The Red Ribbon Week campaign is observed across the nation providing drug awareness and healthy living. This year's slogan is LIFE IS YOUR JOURNEY, TRAVEL DRUG FREE™. We will be recognizing Red Ribbon Week from October 29th-Nov 2nd. That week, students will be allowed to come to school in free dress as long as they are wearing the themed clothing for the day. On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, students must wear uniform bottoms and shoes. Any child who does not wish to participate may wear the regular school uniform each day.

Monday(10/29) - Red Ribbon Week Kick-Off! (wear red t-shirts and socks)
Tuesday (10/30) - Team up to be healthy! (wear your favorite team jersey)
Wednesday (10/31) - Close the Book on Drugs! (wear book character costume)
Thursday (11/01) - These paws don't touch drugs! (wear an animal print or pictured shirt)
