External Review Success
The AdvancED review team, who visited on Tuesday to evaluate our school, was extremely impressed with the work we do at TKS. Our school scored quite well on the AdvancED evaluation tool for our SACS re-accreditation. Thank you to the teachers, staff, students and parents who were all involved in helping us through this process. We should receive a full written report along with our re-accrediation in approximately six weeks.

Message from 5th & 6th Graders
The 5th and 6th Grade students are preparing for our Third Annual SEBE (Social Entrepreneur Business Exposition). We created businesses and products along with our own unique business names! We each decided on what product to make and sell. A couple of weeks ago, we conducted a school-wide survey to figure out an estimation for the amount of product we need to make to sell.  After that, we estimated our expenses to figure out the cost to charge.  On Feb.21st, 22nd, and 23rd (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) we will set up our pop up shops in the lunchroom.  Finally, when we have concluded our Expo sales, we'll gather all of our money and subtract the expenses to calculate the profit. Lastly, we will donate 100% of our profit to a charity of our choice.

We suggest that your children bring single dollars, because our products average from $2-$4 each and there are six businesses to choose from. Thank you for your time and support!

Art on a Dart
The third - sixth grade students have been learning about illustration technique in art class. First, we concerted and sketched, then composed an image in pencil, inked our lines, erased the graphite away, and are now adding color. Students have the option of submitting their cityscapes to Art on the DART competition. Ms. House will collect works and permission forms next week to submit to DART on Friday, February 24. If you would like your child to participate, please return a permission slip by Thursday, February 23. The winner of the contest gets $1,000 and their art on the side of the DART bus. Go Owls!
