November 3rd, School Holiday
After discussions with multiple individuals about KPUMC being a voting site and the fact that we are facing a very controversial election day during a pandemic, we have
decided to declare November 3rd a school holiday. The health and safety of our students are always a priority and we believe it is best to keep them home on that day.
This will not be a virtual learning day, it will be a holiday for all. We have embedded two extra school days in the calendar, so students will still meet the required instructional time for the year.
Iowa & CogAT AssessmentsWe will be administering the Iowa Assessment and Cognitive Abilities Test to Kinder-7th grade students on campus the week last week of October and first week of November. We typically administer this test in September, however we decided to wait until most students were back on campus after the 1st quarter of school concluded.
The Iowa Assessment is an aptitude test in literacy, math, science and social studies that provides data to help drive instruction for the remainder of the school year. The Cognitive Abilities Test helps teachers measure students' cognitive development and adapt instruction to meet the needs and abilities of students.
In order for the results to be valid and measured with national norms, both of these assessments must be administered in school, timed and in a group setting. Students who are not on campus will not qualify to take these standardized tests.
Lunch Orders
Each student received an October menu and a coupon for one free meal from our Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday lunch providers, Local Green Gourmet. Be sure to order your child's lunches for this week.
