Dress Code

At The Kessler School, we believe that a uniform code fosters a sense of community, reduces unnecessary distractions, and enhances school spirit. At the same time, part of our Mission is to “create a community . . . that values individuality.” Beginning in the 2026-27 year, we are making some changes to allow for a little more individual expression while maintaining a uniform that should be worn proudly by our students. Our uniform code includes casual, formal, and TKS spirit uniforms. Casual uniforms can be worn every day except Wednesdays, which are Formal uniform days; Fridays are TKS Spirit Days (students and staff are encouraged to wear any TKS t-shirt or their casual shirt with uniform bottoms). Exceptions to this pattern will be announced in our weekly Owl News and in teachers’ weekly newsletters. Below, you will find detailed information about uniform requirements, including where to purchase the necessary items. Additionally, families can supplement their child's wardrobe with TKS spirit gear available at our TKS Spirit Store.

Casual Uniform Guidelines

Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday; on Fridays students can wear casual uniforms or spiritwear

Bottoms:

  • PreK and Kindergarten: Green polo dress with TKS logo or khaki pants or shorts
    • Privacy shorts (navy, green, or other dark color) must be worn under dresses
  • 1st-8th Grades: Khaki pants, shorts, or skorts

Tops:

  • PreK-4th Grades: TKS logoed green polo (short or long sleeve)
  • 5th-8th Grades: TKS logoed navy polo (short or long sleeve)

Shoes:

  • Athletic shoes that are comfortable and supportive for our active students and that support healthy growth. Note: Shoes that are not permitted include ones that light-up, are noisy, have wheels, sandals/crocs/etc. that are not athletic shoes.

Socks and Tights:

  • Students may choose white triple roll, knee high, or solid navy, white, or black tights or wear socks of their choosing

Outerwear:

  • TKS logoed green or navy sweaters or fleece zip-ups for indoor and cooler weather use
  • 5th-8th grades may wear TKS logoed hoodies
  • In cold temperatures, students may wear any school-appropriate jacket or coat outside (e.g., field, court, or playground)

Formal Uniform Guidelines

Wednesdays and Special Occasions

Formal uniforms (Kinder - 8th) are mandatory every Wednesday, for special occasions (as announced in advance), and optional on other days of the week.

(K-4th Grade) OPTIONS

  • Plaid jumper (from approved uniform store) with white Peter Pan collar shirt
    • Privacy shorts (navy, green, or other dark color) must be worn under jumpers
  • Plaid skort (from approved uniform store) with white TKS shirt
  • Navy pants or shorts
  • White Oxford shirt (long or short sleeve) with TKS logoed green sweater vest
  • Shoes: Same requirements as Casual Uniform shoes
  • Socks: Solid navy, black, or white socks, knee highs, or tights

TKMS: 5th-8th Grade (OPTIONS)

  • Plaid skort (from approved uniform store) with blue Oxford shirt (long or short sleeve) 
  • Navy blue uniform pants or shorts with black or brown leather belt, blue TKS Oxford shirt (long or short sleeve), and TKS uniform necktie
  • TKS logoed green sweater vest may be worn
  • Shoes: Same requirements as Casual Uniform shoes
  • Socks: White or black socks, knee highs, or tights

Outerwear:

  • TKS logoed green or navy sweaters or fleece zip-ups for indoor and cooler weather use
